Jane and Mery. Our path.

We are Yana and Maryana Masalovych — sisters from Mukacheve (Ukraine), founders, and the sole artisans behind the brand. We established Jane and Mery Pottery and Glass in 2017, but the realization that our lives would be intertwined with art has always been with us.

Our mother worked at a ceramic tableware factory, so we witnessed the creative process from the very beginning of our lives. As soon as we could hold tools in our hands, we began helping her in the workshop. We were never discouraged from trying or kept away from the process. There were never any barriers between us and art. It became a natural way of life — one where there wasn't always money or even food, but there was always room for creativity.

Each of us took our own path before the brand. Yana earned her Master’s degree in Decorative and Applied Arts, specializing in Artistic Glass. My path (Maryana) was more winding and complex, leading me to find myself in fine art photography — the work that brings me the greatest fulfillment today.

Since 2017, we have navigated many stages and faced every possible challenge. We’ve made every mistake imaginable, and perhaps even invented a few of our own. Ceramics and glass are Water, Earth, Fire, and Air — elements whose rules you must accept but can never fully control. They do not forgive errors and demand total immersion and devotion.

We are highly demanding of ourselves and meticulous in every stage of the process, which is why it is difficult for us to delegate. Currently, there are only two of us in production. This is our choice and our vision. While things may change in the future, for now, we dedicate ourselves 100% to every piece.

Every creation is the result of our joint effort: intellectual, physical, creative, and pragmatic. We create pieces as extensions of our thoughts — parts of our inner world embodied in clay and glass. That is why they resonate so deeply within the hearts and homes of our clients. They are sincere, emotionally raw, vibrant, and authentic. Their uniqueness isn't just a choice; it’s a reflection of the fact that no two people, days, or thoughts are ever the same — and therefore, no two pieces are ever identical.

We do not chase fashion. We create objects around which meanings, interiors, and visions can be built. Our art does not match the current fashion mood. Our art creates the mood.
