Potato in Blue is a study in organic tension and celestial color. Crafted in a deep, resonant cobalt, the vessel honors its namesake through a humble, tuberous form that defies the traditional symmetry of glassblowing.
Form and Texture
The vase features a heavy, undulating body, punctuated by applied glass prunts that mimic the "eyes" of a potato. These protrusions vary in opacity and hue — ranging from milky opals to earthy ambers—appearing like prehistoric minerals fused to the surface.
Light and Atmosphere
The transparent blue core acts as a light trap. In direct sunlight, it casts long, liquid shadows, while the surface textures catch the light to create a sense of internal movement. The contrast between the rigid, glossy glass and the soft, petal-like applications creates a tactile dialogue between the manufactured and the natural.
